Mackay Insurance began in 1965 in Quebec in 1965. Due to the political climate, David sold the Quebec operations in 1977 and opened an office in Belleville. Back in the ea rly days, David worked out of the basement of the house, he was the only employee and he started with 25 clients. Bruce joined the firm in 1989, came into ownership in 1993 and outright purchased the brokerage in 2003. Today,(2018) "MACKAY INSURANCE BROKERS INC.”, has grown to well over 12000 clients in just over 40 years, employ 18 full time staff and are strategically located in the east end of Belleville as well as a new office in Napanee, McCutcheon Insurance.
